Last April the 'What's Up Yukon' paper had a story writing contest.
The prize was a trip for two on Condor Airlines to Frankfurt Germany. All you had to do was explain who you would take with you and what you would do in Frankfurt as tourists.
I wrote, "If I won a trip for two to Frankfurt I would take the Sasquatch that lives in the forest behind my house with me." (Google 'whatsupyukon a Sasquatch in Frankfurt' for the complete story)
I disqualified myself because of course I could not take an imaginary figure and my wife wasn't happy because I didn't say I would take her.
Fast forward to June 24, 2014 when my blog receives a request to contact a journalist, Catherine, in Montreal. Catherine came across the story and works for the Discovery Network. The Discovery Network is producing a TV show on Sasquatches in the Yukon.
This past weekend a Discovery film crew arrived in Whitehorse and we spent two days filming and doing interviews. We visited Miles Canyon, Grey Mountain, the SS Klondike river boat and of course the forest behind my house where my friend Flunder lives.
I don't believe in Sasquatches but I do write about them because they make great
characters just like aliens. My Sasquatches are intelligent, compassionate and loyal.
So sometime in the near future the Discovery Network will be showing a film of the Yukon and Sasquatches. I was not the only person interviewed so I'm sure there will be comments by people who do believe in Sasquatches.
The attached picture is of Flunder visiting the Teutoberg Forest in Germany. He got his own ticket and went himself.
Regards
David
